KANJEEVARAM needs no introduction. It comes from a place called Kanchipuram, in TamilNadu, and hence the name. Made from the finest of silk yarn, these sarees come in varied colours and designs. Kanjeevaram sarees have a GI (Geographical Indication), which is given by the government of India. The sarees are woven from pure mulberry silk. The border is usually a different colour. Usually, to make this, the body and border are woven separately and usually joined delicately by weaving them together. Often a zigzag line shows at the border denoting this procedure. This differentiates Kanjeevaram sarees from others.
