KANJEEVARAM needs no introduction. It comes from a place called Kanchipuram, in TamilNadu and hence the name. Made from finest of silk yarn, these sarees come in varied colours and designs. Kanjeevaram sarees have a GI (Geogriphical Indication) , which is given by the government of India. The sarees are woven from pure mulberry silk. The border is usually a different colour . Usually to make this, the body and border are woven seperately and usually joined delicately by weaving them together. Often a zigzag line shows at the border denoting this procedure. This differentiates Kanjeevaram sarees from others.
